Hey, we’re the carpenters.
It started off as wanting to add a miniature pony (a.k.a an Irish Wolfhound), my dream dog, to our zoo. We have an Aussie, Doxie, 2 Cockatiels, a Ball Python, and two cats. Then it turned into a large idea that my entire family stood behind. And I couldn’t do this without them. Without the support and encouragement of my husband and our beautiful children- this wouldn’t be possible.
We aim to help stabilize the integrity of the breed, better it when and if possible, and to love our large fur babies all the times in between.
Our dogs are not breeding machines to us, they’re our family. The puppies, the honor to help maintain the breed, and experiencing the life they create and trust us with is just an amazing bonus.
our goals
We are preservation breeders, we breed solely for the preservation of the bloodline, health and longevity of the breed. So, what does that mean?
Preserving irish wolfhounds from ever decreasing numbers
Unfortunately, Irish Wolfhounds were placed on the ‘Most Endangered’ list by the UK Kennel Club and Belfast Live in 2022. Many breeders argue this isn’t the case, that because of lower quality breeders, the number of litters grows. Which, some argue, supports that same argument. If you have an uptick of lower quality breeders, and a stagnation or possible decline of quality ethical breeders, what is the true outcome? This opinion seems to differ between each breeder and owner. We’re newer; and cannot for certain speak on who is correct until we’ve matured more in experience and research- only present both sides of the argument. Only time will tell.
Preserving the historic traits and functions of the irish wolfhound
Preserving the traits and functions of the Irish Wolfhound is crucial for maintaining the breed's unique characteristics and purpose. Breeding programs and adherence to breed standards help ensure the continuation of the breed's strength, speed, and endurance for hunting, as well as its affectionate and gentle nature.
